Moving to Shakopee: a realistic local guide
Shakopee is home for me, so this is one of the places where I can give you more than a generic list of attractions. Here is the housing side of the conversation.
The city has grown
The U.S. Census Bureau estimates Shakopee had 49,366 residents in 2025, up 12.9% from its 2020 estimate base.
Housing
Census data reports a 74.8% owner-occupied housing rate and a $374,800 median value of owner-occupied housing units for 2020–2024. Individual neighborhoods and homes can be very different.
What I would research before moving
Compare commute, taxes, neighborhood, school information from appropriate official sources, home age and condition, association rules when applicable, and the amount of space you actually need.
Why I know the area
I grew up in Shakopee and built my real estate business here. That does not mean every part of town is the same—it means I can give you a local starting point and help you dig into the details.
